Below is a list of some charities to consider as we continue to fight this pandemic. I am in awe of the generosity that I've witnessed and am grateful and optimistic of the future. If you have any charities you would like to add please drop the links in the comments.
Meals on Wheels: In response to the coronavirus crisis, this program is giving home-delivered meals to the elderly. The meals are nutritious and shelf stable.
St. Ann's Corner of Harm Reduction: St. Ann's Corner of Harm Reduction provide non-judgmental quality access to health resources to persons for whom the social stigma attached to their illicit drug use, HIV/HCV status, poverty, race, gender identity, homelessness, or health undermines their ability to access the services they require and deserve. During the coronavirus crisis, they have kept their doors opened and are providing daily to-go meals.
Canada Helps: The entire country is feeling the effects of COVID-19, but the impact on children is massive. Millions are struggling to not fall behind as they face school closures. Others have lost access to the community programs they depend on for their well-being whether it’s breakfast programs to keep them fed or supports to help them deal with disabilities, mental health, abuse at home, and more.
Red Cross Australia: Your donation helps Red Cross support people who are most vulnerable in the COVID-19 pandemic.
This includes:
continuing our vital services for people in high-risk groups
expanding our phone-based support services for people in isolation
supporting emergency relief teams in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
Compliments of the House: is a small London-based charity that collects fresh, surplus food from supermarkets and restaurants like Pret, Marks & Spencer, Costa and Franco Manca and redistributes it to those in need, whether they're rough sleepers, homeless or simply struggling to make ends meet. With the government's announcement to close restaurants and cafes, COTH needs you more than ever.
Sufra: a food bank and kitchen based in North London, has launched the Coronavirus Emergency Appeal. Through this appeal, every £10 you give will provide an emergency food parcel to someone in desperate need, and £50 will feed and supply a family of four. The charity notes that this parcel includes nappies, milk and nutritious food for babies.
Wishing everyone much love and safety!
